My introduction to the tea parties was through the following letter to the editor of the Albert Lea paper. I planned a few replies to this rancor but I waited to see if people who were supporting, even organizing the Tea Parties would publically disassociate with the positions of this individual. I will happily be the philosophical and political opposite of what is expressed in Mr. Smit’s letter.

Tea parties to protest Obama intervention
The Barack Obama presidency is a complete joke. Does anyone notice the blatant power grabs by this president? The guy now owns the company that makes my car, insurance companies and banks. This is getting out of hand fast and we are losing our freedom and choice through his government intervention. We must resist the government by attending local tea parties on April 15th to show our strength. Obama is an empty suit and anyone that supports him has fallen victim to the propoganda and lies dumped upon us by our own government. The time for resistance is now, or the joke will soon be on us.
