02/02/10 Precinct Caucuses
When it comes to the elections in 2010, people are saying “throw the bums out!”
But that won’t work if there’s another bum waiting in the wings!
As much as everyone should vote on Election Day, trying to change the direction of our country in November is TOO LATE! As unpalatable as partisan politics is for many Tea Party Patriots, please understand that choosing candidates really starts on caucus night.
If you are FED-UP and want a principled crop of candidates to choose from on November 2, 2010 then you need to attend your local caucus on Tuesday February 2 and consider becoming a delegate.
MN SOS has information here: http://www.sos.state.mn.us/index.aspx?page=886
Here’s some information to get started on demystifying the caucus:
http://www.lwvmn.org/EdFund/caucus.asp – written info
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbYcO-vAY6M – League of Women voters video (5:36)
[League of Women Voters has a reputation of leaning to the left, however, this information is valuable to all interested in caucusing. The major parties also have information on their sites.]
Sue Jeffers of KTLK-FM is planning to host a show on caucuses later this month, so you can have all your questions answered and know that “you can do this!”
So fire up your email chains and stay tuned. There’s about three weeks to EDUCATE and MOTIVATE all the fed up people in Minnesota why they need to go to caucus.
Mark your calendar for 7:00pm on Tuesday February 2, 2010 – let’s turn the caucuses into Iced Tea Parties!

Thank you so much for your help. I am relatively new to all of this but I do realize the importance of going to my caucus. I want to be able to make an informed decision so your answer helps a lot.
Thank you again.
Hello -
I need some help locating information on candidates for SD 14. I am going to the caucus on Tuesday and I only want to voice support for the most conservative candidates. Unfortunately, I have had a difficult time locating information on them. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.
Hillary,
Couple of places. First, look up your local republican house district BPOU, they should have a website. Second, candidates that have registered for office in your district can be found on the Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board. But some candidates may have announced but may not yet have registered. Some may show up on caucus night and have information available, others may simply make brief announcements in each precinct.
Thanks and good luck
I will be attending my caucus. How will I know who to vote for? Are there lists of tea party candidates by precinct on this web site? If no one is running can I be your representative?
See the reply to Hillary’s question.
Good luck
I have contacted dist 8 to see who is running for congress against Oberstar and got 4 names. I asked for pedigrees and positions on these four about 2 weeks ago and have received nothing back. No wonder dist. 8 has had this socialist bum for so long. Can we the Tea Party get a candidate to run in the GOP primary to remove all of these duds?
Excellent call to arms. This is what all the hubbub is about, folks. Caucus is where we get traction, where the words turn to action. There is nothing more important the Tea Party movement will do this year.
Walter,
Gregg Perrin gave me your name. Hopefully we’ll meet in the coming weeks and months.
Get involved and help choose the canidates. if you know someone who is qualified, whether it’s school board, city council, volunteer commisiions, then get involved and share the information. To have good government, we need people to govern, we need people to help get them elected.
