I thought Dick Armey was going to be here; maybe it was just a rumor I heard. I really like him; what a great businessman. He has found a way to make millions of dollars organizing us, and getting us going and selling us T-shirts. Wasn’t he in Congress or something?
I agree with Malary; very disappointed. I was expecting a bigger and angrier crowd. When are we going to take up the cause of getting our money back from Halliburton and Blackwater? We are swimming in debt and those Repub’s put everything on the credit card? As Ron Paul said, we cannot afford any more years of “conservative GOP management”. Also shouldn’t we try to get the Patriot Act repealed?
I was at the tea party on 9-17-09.I was really impressed with twila Brase.would like a copy of the ten items that she spoke on.
What would you have recommended, Malary? And did you speak with those that left early to find out why?
I too was disappointed in the turnout compared to April, but what else could the presenters possibly do to make it better? I go because I am concerned about the current administration and the hell-hole that it’s taking us, and right now I’m happy to make my voice heard in the open by going to Tea Party rallies. I wish I could have gone to DC, as I’m sure others do as well.
I don’t always agree with everything the speakers say at our local rallies, but right now it’s all we’ve got. I’ve been writing and phoning my representatives (but they ignore me), I blog, I donate to the opposition, and I go to Tea Parties. What do you suggest to make it better?
P.S. Change the music at these rallies. Make it a little more varied and more patriotic, and not so loud.
P.P.S. I personally find the site confusing, and very hard to negotiate. I end up searching and wandering through pages and pages just to get info, and then can’t find my way back or out. Can you streamline it in any way? I feel I’m missing out on important information. I’m used to vBulletin boards where I can keep track of all the discussions at a glance, or choose just the threads with the most current replies. I may just have to stick to them. Thanks.
I would just like to express my extreme disappointment in the St. Paul Tea Party. I went there because I have Real concerns and Real frustrations with the way things are going in this country and I really thought these tea parties might make a difference. Instead, when I got there and saw they had turned it into a big joke I felt insulted. How can we expect to be taken seriously with the types of ridiculous performances I saw at the Capitol yesterday. “Cap’n Trade” and the guy in the chicken suit? Come On! And what was with that song? Every person in that crowd and everyone who feels strongly about the issues were all single-handedly discredited by that presentation. Our country is not a gimmick. The Constitution is not a gimmick. Our rallies shouldn’t be either. I know I’m not the only person who feels this way because in the short time I was there I saw several groups of people leave, almost all of them looking about as pleased as I felt. Please, if we really want to be listened to, if we really want people to pay attention to us, we should first and foremost take ‘ourselves’ seriously.
I understand what you are saying, Malary, but I can also see the need for some levity at this point. I was there and the rally consisted of some very fine speakers, especially Bradlee, as well as Marjorie who gave a great overview of the Constitution, and I also appreciated the speaker who outlined ten things to know in the latest healthcare bill. The song at the end was funny, catchy, and my kids are still humming it around the house. We are certainly living in tremulous times so a little lightheartedness is a good thing here and there to help ease some of the stress. “A merry heart makes good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” – Prov.17:22
i couldn’t get off work i wish i was there
What primaries were held this week and where?
Word of today’s rally at the capital should be on the front page of this site!
I have never attended a march before. I am looking forward to be part of an organization that wants to put this country back in order. Is the march on the grounds of the state Capitol? IT’s TIME TO ROCK AND ROLL! Thanks
did you make it
Can’t wait to attend! Hopefully it’s a larger turnout than in the past!
Everyone needs to attend this Thursday’s Tea Party as it will keep us motivated and reassure us we are not alone. While the liberal media wants to label us as non-important and non-mainstream, the opposite is true. We are mainstream America who want the Constitution followed, corrupt politicians out of office, reduced spending, and a smaller Federal government.
I attended the Washington, D.C. march and rally, and there were THOUSANDS of people there who believe and support what we do. People were lined up from the Capitol all the way to the Washington Monument, and the park police were estimating 1.2 to 1.5 million people. News channels are still reporting 60,000 attendees but those of us who were there know there were more.
I am glad to see there is a tea party planned for Sept 17;
I would still like to gather at the capitol st paul on SAt 9-12 at noon ; I am not going to DC but would like to do something to show support;
Will anyone be going???
Is there a St. Paul Tea Party at the capitol on Sept 17th? Most (if not all) of the responses under the St. Paul Tea Party are about the Brainerd Tea Party. If there is a St. Paul Tea Party, what time?
5pm-8pm
Let’s get this party started!
What time etc. Would like to be there from Northern MN
I think we will try the 5:00 PM – 7:30 drill again. Might sneak in there this weekend and see if there is any power out in the parking lot so I don’t have to bring a generator… but we have one at the snowmobile club house so it’s no big deal if there isn’t any. Are all you people able to spread the word and pray for good weather?? And don’t forget to get yer’rant ready!

We live north of Motley. We are interested in participating in local tea parties. Can you send info? I would appreciate if you would email me directly.
Thanks
Just wondering if the Tea Party in Brainerd is a go for the 17th at the Crow Wing park starting at 5:00PM???? I have relative and friends who want to make it also so I would like to confirm date & time for them.. Thanks
Sorry bout that last posting… I was answering a question about the Brainerd tea party… in the St. Paul “section”… I don’t know what time things get rolling in St. Paul so I will try to keep quiet on that one.
will there be a protest on the 12th?
Yes, you’ll see some discussion about it if you scroll down on the main http://teapartymn.com/ page.
We are planning a tea party in the Brainerd area on Sept. 17th at the welcome center by Crow Wing State Park… the center is a chamber of commerce/wayside rest/info center. There is gobs of room to park… One of the areas retired state patrolman is a tea party-er and says ‘lets see if they try to kick us out’ !! We plan to take over the entire parking lot! Remember… the right to peaceably assemble…
Would love to join everyone & have lots of relatives who would like to participate. Will be watching for more info on this Brainerd tea party.
I’m with you!
I’ll be there.
I just listed Brainerds event info… please check the link out on the right under “Events Current”
